Junior Roller Ski Camp Summer 2007
meets Tuesday evenings in New Paltz and Thursday mornings in Kingston from
the last week of June through the first week of August. We have corporate
sponsorship and every camper will receive products from the sponsors and a
t-shirt. The cost is $80 for 2 sessions a week and $45 for 1 session a week.
Janice Sibilia is the camp's head coach and Valerie Malia from the St.
Lawrence University ski team also will be working with the skiers. The camp
is designed for high school skiers (or just graduated from high school) from
beginners to JO levels.

July 25-30, NYSEF Junior Camp, National Sports Academy, Lake
Placid, NY
Event Info: For J2 - OJ skiers (ages 14 – 19). Spend 6 days in the
High Peaks of the Adirondacks. Training activites include mobility,
strength, running, ski walking, rollerskiing, hiking, speedball and a
multi-sport challenge day against the NENSA J2/EHSC camp who is staying at
the OTC during the same time. Video and technqiue review sessions. Athletes
should have rollerskiing experience. Housing and meals are at The National
Sports Academy. Guest appearances from Olympic Biathletes Tim Burke and
Lowell Bailey.
Registration: Cost: $350. Deposit of $50 is due, payable to NYSEF by
June 25. The camp is limited to sixteen athletes. Note: If you are a coach
and would like to attend as a guest coach, please contact Margaret.

session.

TRAINING FLYER
The NYSEF XC Program is
expanding our territory to the Gore Region. We are jump
starting this program starting this spring and summer
because cross-country skiing is no longer a winter-only
sport!! Let's do consistent, year-round training and
raise the level of ski racing in the Mid-Atlantic Division!
This program is for J2 and older athletes. See the
attachment for details about the new summer program.
Spring sessions will run on
Saturdays and summer sessions will run on Thursdays.
There will be two sessions per
day, 10 AM & 2 PM.
Additional days will be added
in the summer for adventure days in the Lake Placid and Old
Forge areas.
I would like to get this
program underway next Saturday, May 19. We will not
be rollerskis on the first day.

Saturday registration for the sprints will begin about 10:30am Sprints will start at 11am and will continue until 1pm each skier gets 2 runs(all runs must be completed by 1pm) winners announced at 1pm. There will be no formal start order for the sprints just get in line an go. If you think you can better your time buy extra runs. Relays start at 2pm. Teams should be registered by 1:30 at the latest. Expect all registration to take place at the timing building near the start/finish. 2 to 3 skiers per team

Sunnycrest Winterfest in Syracuse Feb 24-25
Adults races include a 4k classic event, an 8K
freestyle event, chili lunch, sprints and Bill Koch youth races. If you
won't be at the ESGs, Sunnycrest has great snow conditions and groomed
trails right in the heart of Syracuse. $10 fee covers all races and the

In an effort to harmonize the qualifying procedures for JO's with other races (FIS, US Nationals, NENSA JOQs), Mid-A has adopted the USSA points system. This is the first year using this scoring procedure. The qualifying point cut-offs were decided based on our best judgment and looking back at past years' JO results. We may need to make adjustments after working with this scoring system.
