THE HARRY POTTER WEEKEND January 5th & 6th - Salmon Hills, Redfield, NY two BK fun races (2K & 1K) plus a triwizard tournament cost is $7 trail fee/day + food RSVP by January 3rd - and state which race they will enter
Schedule of Events
Saturday, January 5
10:30 - 12:30 Race Registration & "sorting" (Gryffindor, Slytherin, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw) for the triwizard tournament - Registration will take place in the large community yurt. Sign up sheets for parent volunteer duties.
1:00 BK Classic Fun races (start after the ESG but no earlier than 1:00) choice of two race lengths approx. 2K or 1K (15 second interval start) finish line is skiing into platform 9 3/4 - don't be scared! race wearing a witch/wizard hat and receive a 10% reduction of race time
2:00 Triwizard Tournament (start after fun race) teams will be sorted into HP houses, from registration and participate in 5 different events a. Teams will ski down Diagon Alley avoiding the "dragon eggs" that will be rolled by the opposing teams (1 point awarded for each skier that does not get hit with an egg) b. Teams will have a team relay race by rolling dragon eggs through their legs (last person skis to the front of the line carrying the egg) - these actions continue to the team reaches the finish line. (3 points-1st, 2 points-2nd, 1 point-3rd) c. One at a time, team mates ski to the Forbidden Forest to retrive their "house cubes" that are hidden in the snowbank - parents may want to bring extra gloves (3 points-1st, 2 points-2nd, 1 point-3rd) d. Together as a team - skiers must ski through the Hogwart maze, older skiers may need to assist and encourage the younger skiers in their house, as teams MUST SKI/STAY TOGETHER. (1 minute interval start) At least one parent volunteer will be needed to ski with each house to be an observer/rescuer if the skiers need assistance. (3 points-1st, 2 points-2nd, 1 point-3rd) e. Which team can make the most noise?? Please feel free to bring bells, noisemakers, and your loudest voices for this. (3 points-1st, 2 points-2nd, 1 point-3rd)
After the events - scores will be tallied up while the participants have a "feast" in the main lodge. Ribbons will be awarded, sorted by sex/class for the race and Bertie Bot awards for all teams in the tournament.
Sunday, January 6

1:00 BK Freestyle Fun races (start after the ESG but no earlier than 1:00) choice of two race lengths approx. 2K or 1K (15 second interval start) finish line is skiing into platform 9 3/4 - don't be scared! race wearing a witch/wizard hat and receive a 10% reduction of race time
2:00 While race scores are tallied - skiers may play elbow tag, play/build on the snow castle or slide on the old tubing hill - bring your own sled gear
2:30 Ribbons will be awarded, sorted by sex/class for the race.
PLEASE NOTE: This weekend agenda is pure fun - and untried contests. (schedule is subject to change if required-and there are no DQ's) I have a great group of volunteering parents but more will be needed. At this time, on site lodging is still available - and of course entry/trail fee will be waived for Salmon Hill Lodgers.
